Dr. Roseanne Williby, Principal
After two years on military assignment in Germany, Omaha
looked like a piece of heaven when I arrived with my children in 1982.
Admiring the teaching profession, I started working on my bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in secondary education at the University of Nebraska at
Omaha. My subject emphasis for those degrees was science. Leonardo da Vinci
stated that, "science is knowing how to see," and seeing with understanding
the processes of nature is still a passion of mine. I shared that love of
science for 7 years as a junior high teacher and for 9 years as a science
teacher and department head at Skutt Catholic High School. During those
later years at Skutt, I felt there might be a new challenge awaiting me in
educational administration. Inspired by the dedicated teaching staff at UNO,
the educational experience was so compelling that I completed both an
administrative endorsement and doctorate.
Eventually receiving my "big break" and becoming a school administrator,
I have spent the past 7 years as the school principal at a St. Thomas More
Catholic School. It is with a great sense of loss that I leave the many
wonderfully warm people I have come to love at St. Thomas More Parish. When
I do take time away from school, I enjoy traveling on religious pilgrimage
or mission. These life changing excursions are food for my soul.
My personal goal is to bring glory to God by reaching and teaching every
child as we guide them to be great leaders in their school today and in
their community tomorrow. Every child has this tremendous potential. We are
encouraged by Ralph Waldo Emerson who states: "A man becomes what he
thinks." In the same spirit of Robert Browning who said, "Ahh, but as man’s
reach should exceed his grasp, or what is a heaven for," we will teach our
students to reach beyond their grasp and maximize their spiritual and
academic growth. I am greatly honored and humbled to begin serving God at
St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School. Thank you for welcoming me to your
parish school. I look forward to meeting you and sharing in your great
dreams for your children.
Gratefully yours,
Roseanne L. Williby, Ed. D.
