We have begun
registration for fall R.E. classes. We offer Religious Education for
children
age 3 through High School. Additional registration information and forms
are available on our
Registration Information page (link at left).
Have you thought about being a catechist but have
never given it
a try? We have 300 volunteer spots just waiting for you!
We have
teaching opportunities for pre-school through high school. Our catechists teach
in teams of two with a class of 15 students. All lesson plans and materials are
provided for you and tuition is waived for your children. We even have child
care for your younger children. Stop by the Religious Education Office to see
what opportunities are available. We can show you curriculum and lesson plans
and help you choose the grade that is best for you. Please call the office at
896-5683 or email Eileen Smith at
e.smith@stephen.org or Mary Maguire at
m.maguire@stephen.org for more information.

are ready to kick it up a notch this year!! Proceeds will be used to
provide tuition assistance for families in our parish school and Religious
Education programs. Please check the website at
2010 Chili
Challenge for more information.
Hope to see you there!

40 Cans for 40 Days of Lent
Dana Kosalka, one of our Life Teen youth and
a Sunday School catechist, is
organizing a project to collect food for the SSM Food Pantry. Please help Dana
and our Sunday School students fill our pantry with food for the needy during
Lent.
Operation Rice Bowl
Rice
Bowls were sent home with students to collect money for Catholic Relief
Services. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) provide food and assistance to those
in need all over the world. They have the contacts already in place so that
when disaster strikes they are able to respond quickly. More information and
additional Rice Bowls are available in the R.E. Office and at
www.crs.org. Please use the Rice Bowls as part of your family’s Lenten
almsgiving!
Rite of Christian Initiation for Children
We have two groups of older children who are
preparing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion this
spring. Children who have been baptized but have not received Reconciliation or
Eucharist prepare for the sacraments by attending regular religious education
classes and also receive individual preparation in a group or with their parents.
If you have a child that would like to join the group, please contact Mary
Maguire at
m.maguire@stephen.org.
Catholics Come Home
Have you or someone you
know been away from the Catholic Church? Catholics Come Home can help Catholics who have left the Church find their way
back home, answer questions for those who are seeking to know God better and
welcome those who are interested in becoming Catholic to the Church. Please
visit Catholics Come Home
or contact Deacon Denny Dethlefs at 896-9675.
It is not too late to register for R.E.!
We have new students join us
throughout the year! If you are new to our community or just feel it is
time to get your children involved in Religious Education, we are here to help.
In
addition to providing religious education for our elementary students, we have a
wonderful Sunday School program for children age 3-5, as well as a fabulous Life
Teen program for our high school students.
We also have two multi-age classes for our
Special Needs students. Registration
information and forms are available on the Registration
page of the website. Tuition
assistance is also available due to the generosity of
many individuals and organizations in our parish.
Thank
you for allowing us to be part of your family’s faith formation!
If you have
questions or need additional help,
please contact the R.E. Office.
Weather
Announcements and Cancellations
The Religious
Education program observes the school closing policies of the Millard School
District. If Millard Public Schools cancel classes or evening activities
due to inclement weather, we will not hold Religious Education classes or
activities that evening. Closings will be published on the Weather
Information page of the parish website. Any plans for rescheduling activities will also
be posted on the website. All snow and weather related announcements will also be
broadcast on KFAB/KFOR radio and KETV, WOWT, and KMTV television.
Parents
should always use their discretion as to whether it is safe for their children
to attend class.
