As a part of their commitment to the protection of our children and young
people, the Archdiocese of Omaha has established a policy designed to
promote healing, guarantee an effective response to allegations of abuse and
protect the faithful. One facet of this commitment is Safe Environment
which provides training and background checks for individuals who have
regular contact with children and youth.
All clergy and paid staff members at St.
Stephen the Martyr must have current Safe Environment Certification as a
condition of their employment.
Volunteers who coach sports teams, lead
scout meetings, chaperone field trips, work with our youth groups, teach
catechism or otherwise come into contact with children or youth are
required to receive Safe Environment Certification. We also urge all
of our 5-day school parents to receive their Safe Environment Certification.
Initial Certification
To obtain Safe Environment Certification,
the volunteer must complete a two-hour training class and undergo a
background check. The following classes are being offered in
our area for your convenience. These classes are being offered at no
charge to members of St. Stephen the Martyr. Pre-registration is
required.
