Register now for Religious Education classes.

We welcome new students all year!

Welcome to St. Stephen the Martyr Religious Education! Since 1989, we have been blessed to participate in the faith formation of thousands of children and their families.  We have been equally blessed by the support of our priests, parents, staff and the hundreds of catechists and volunteers who step forward each year.

St. Stephen’s offers religious education for children 3 years old through high school.  We also have multi-age classes for our students with special needs.

Please fill out the 2017-18  R.E. Registration and Payment Forms and return them to the R.E. Office.  Students new to our parish program do not need to pay the $25 late fee if registering after May 1st.  Students enrolling from other parishes are charged the same tuition rate as those belonging to St. Stephen’s, but are not eligible for tuition assistance.  Hard copies of the forms are available from the R.E. Office.

There is a $300 family cap, so total tuition for a family with two or more children enrolled in Religious Education will not exceed $300.  (Sacrament preparation and late fees are not included in the family cap.)   New parishioners do not need to pay the $25 late registration fee.  If you have any questions about registration or about St. Stephen’s R.E. program, please contact us by phone at 402-896-5683 or by email  R.E. Office

Please do not let finances stand in the way of giving your children a religious education!  Due to the generosity of many groups and individuals in our parish, we offer tuition assistance for parish families who need help. We do not want a single child to miss out on Religious Education because of finances! To request tuition assistance, please mark the Tuition Assistance box on the R.E. Payment Information form when you register.  All requests for financial assistance are kept confidential.  You must be a registered parishioner of St. Stephen the Martyr parish to request tuition assistance.

Your child’s religious education is  dependent on the dedication and loving witness of our catechists.  Have you thought about being a catechist but have never given it a try?  We have 300 volunteer spots just waiting for you!  Our catechists teach in teams of two with a class of 15 students. All lesson plans and materials are provided.  Tuition is waived for the children of our adult volunteers and child care for their younger children is provided in the Little Saints Center.  Volunteer options are described on page 2 of the registration form. (All volunteers must have current Safe Environment certification (including training and a background check) before working with students. See the Volunteer link at left for upcoming training dates or the ‘Safe Environment’ page at

About our program:

St. Stephen’s offers religious education for children 3 years old through high school.  We also have multi-age classes for our students with special needs.

Students in grades 1-8 attend class on Tuesday evenings at 4:15 or 5:30 pm, or on Wednesdays 4, 5:30 or 7 pm.  Sunday School classes for children 3 years old through kindergarten are held during the 9 am and 10:30 am Sunday Masses. (Students must be 3 years old by Aug. 1, 2017 to register for the Introductory level of Sunday School.  Kindergarten students can attend classes on either Sunday mornings, or Tuesdays at 4:15 pm and 5:30 pm or Wednesday at 4 and 5:30 pm.

Edge, our Middle School Youth Ministry group, meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30- 8 pm.  The youth share pizza, fun and continue learning about their faith.  If you have a student in grades 6-8, you might consider registering them for the Tuesday at 5:30 pm session so they can go to Youth Group right after R.E. classes.   Edge is Life Teen for Middle School students, so it is an active, group-centered, hands-on learning environment that supports what they are learning in R.E.

Life Teen for Gr. 9-12  St. Stephen’s has a vibrant, dynamic Life Teen group that gives our youth even more avenues to build their faith and become involved in our parish community. High school youth meet in the Gonderinger Parish Center from 7- 8:45 pm on Sundays.  For more information on  Life Teen and other formation and service activities for teens, please visit our Youth Ministry  page.
