Dear St. Stephen families,
Here are some upcoming events:
Parish Advent Reconciliation Service — Preparing the Way for the Lord
St. Stephen’s is offering a parish-wide Advent Reconciliation Service at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2017. The communal service is an opportunity to join together in asking for forgiveness and healing during this important time of the year.
All are invited to join with our faith community to reflect on our lives through a brief prayer service, examination of conscience and individual confession. Ten priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
This year, Christmas falls on a Monday. Since Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on the Fourth Sunday of Advent and again on Christmas, there are two obligations to fulfill. These can be fulfilled in any of the following ways:
- Saturday evening and Sunday evening;
- Saturday evening and any time after midnight on Monday;
- Sunday morning and Sunday evening;
- Sunday morning and any time after midnight on Monday;
- Sunday evening and any time after midnight on Monday.
In the last option, the Sunday obligation is fulfilled even if the Mass is for Christmas Eve.
The Trivia night sign-ups are open now! There are 17 tables left for the event. I expect them to go in this next week so don’t delay! There are copies of the registration form on the little square kiosk in the gathering space and they can be found on the website! Reservations are on a first come first served basis and it takes the completed form and the full $160 registration to reserve your table. And don’t forget to buy your mulligans when you register. Get your team ready to have some Fun at this FUNd-raiser event!

What is happening?
Look in the Gathering space for a special guest this weekend, December 2nd – 3rd.
We will have Sister Marie Therese, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the dining room after all masses. She has a variety of religious bracelets and items available for a free-will donation. She will use the monies received to help her in her education and to help the orphan children in the Congo.
December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, this is a holy day of obligation. We will have masses on Thursday at 5:30pm and Friday at 6:30, 8:15am, Noon, and 5:30pm.
December 9th/10 – We will have a second collection to benefit the Retired priests and religious. Please be generous.
We will, also, that weekend have the third Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast and a Fair Trade sale.
Mark your calendars for March 10, 2018. This is the night of our biggest fundraiser, Martyr Madness. The proceeds directly benefit our parish, our school, and our ministries.
Also, in March this year, the Welcome program will be looking for participants in a pilot of the program formerly known as Christ Renews His Parish. I am excited about bringing this evangelization program to St. Stephen’s. Look for more information in January!
