What is Liturgy of the Word for children? Children 1st - 4th grade are invited to listen to the Word of God proclaimed and interpreted on a level that is easy for them to understand. This program is offered Saturday 5:00pm, Sunday 9:00am & 10:30am (2 groups).

This ministry requires several adults to work together.

1. First Reader - Reads the children's version of either the 1st or 2nd reading. After the Homily you would lead the Prayers of the Faithful.

2. Gospel Person - Reads our children's version of the gospel and then talks with the children about what they just read and what it might mean to them. This person also presents our version of the Creed.

3. Spotter - Helps bring the children back to our meeting space. Then after a while goes out to the Gathering Area to listen to the Priest's homily and signals our group when it is finished. Then we can finish up with our prayers and rejoin the congregation.

4. Helper - Crowd control

5. Musician or Song Leader - If you play an instrument, great! Mainly we just need some one who is willing to lead the group in singing. We usually have an opening song and an alleluia song.

You can do as little or as much as you like. You only need to commit to twice a month. We need people for all of these duties and all four mass times. If interested please contact Dean Baumert at 895-8063 or email at dcbaumert@essvote.com
