Bible Study-Acts of the Apostles This is Step 3 in The Great Adventure Foundational Series. The Acts of the Apostles provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. See how the Gospel witness spread outward in waves, from Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria and finally to the ends of the Earth. Bob and Wendy Synowicki will facilitate this class on Mondays 6:30-8:30PM. The cost of the Study Set is $30. Ms. Donna Garrett and Deacon Marty Warwick will present a 6 week series on a variety of topics of interest to modern Catholics. The classes will be held in the GPC at 9:30AM(Childcare available) and again at 7:00PM. Topics include Critical Thinking: the Art of Effective Reasoning, Faith and Reason, Evolution vs Creationism, Intro to Documents of Vatican II, Intro to Writings of John Paul II, and recent Archeological Discoveries. Join us to learn more about our great Faith and how to defend it if necessary. No prerequisites are necessary. (Cost of materials $15.) Start date is 9/14. Lectio Divina Prayer Group-The Gospel of Matthew We will use the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible "The Gospel of Matthew" for this class. (Book cost $10) This prayer group will meet in the Daily Mass Chapel every 1st Wednesday of the month from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Babysitting available. The group will also offer additional days of prayer and fellowship as, together, we will visit some of our beautiful Catholic Churches in Omaha and surroundings. The cost of the books is $9. Bible Study -Matthew: The King and His Kingdom This Bible study class focuses on Jesus as the fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament. It also touches on Jesus' establishment of the Church as the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Set in the rich context of Jesus's Jewish culture, this study will help you understand the universal truths of the Kingdom of God; it will help you understand more fully God's will for us today. This class will be offered on Wednesdays at 9:30AM( Childcare available) and again at 7:00PM beginning 9/15 in the GPC. Bible Study-Breaking Open the Word This Bible Study will discuss the Weekend Mass readings as they are presented in the Lectionary. This year is Church Liturgical Year A so we will study/discuss the Gospel of Matthew. We will meet in the GPC at 9:30-10:30 AM Thursdays in the Board Room. Bible Study-The Bible Timeline This Bible Study is on of the finest foundational programs to help the Sacred Scripture student discover the "Big Picture" of the story of Salvation History. By focusing on the 14 books of the Bible you learn the overarching story of God's plan of salvation and gives you and understanding of how the people, places events, and themes of Scripture fit together. The Bible Timeline is perfect for those who haven't studied the Bible before, as well as for the Bible study veteran. This class will be offered on Thursday evenings at 6:30-8:00 in the SSM/Library.
