Knights of Columbus
St. Stephen the Martyr
Council #10160

Brief History
The Knights of Columbus began in 1882 when a group of pioneering Catholics,
led by Father Michael McGivney, founded a society designed to provide much
needed security for widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners. Father
McGivney's original idea grew quickly, becoming an order of Catholic men and
their families, dedicated to promoting charity, unity, fraternity and
patriotism. Today there are more than 1.5 million members in over 10,000 local
councils in the United States and in other parts of the world.
Activities

Here at St. Stephen the Knights are involved in a number of different
activities. We sponsor pancake breakfasts in the Fall, fish fries during Lent,
and participate in the annual parish festival. There are also events designed
for the Knights and their families such as our St. Valentine's dance, football
parties, and our annual summer picnic. Our Council is a concerned and friendly
group within the parish and one which you will enjoy being part of.
Membership
The need to become involved has never been greater. If you
are a practical Catholic man at least 18 years of age, the K of C may be just
what you have been looking for. You can become as involved as you wish. Just
remember that the Knights offer an opportunity for fellowship with people who
share the same beliefs and who recognize the same duty to God, to family, and to
our community.
For further information regarding the Knights of Columbus,
please contact Leonard Kruse, the Knights of Columbus Membership Director, at

enjoyable experience and a great way to become involved in the parish community.
